Unselfish Action

Service does not have to be big and grandiose to be meaningful and make a difference

Working with the theme of shining our lights, we’ll continue on with that with the yoga practice of karma. Karma yoga is about acts of service and Wikipedia defines it as "unselfish action". In a blog post from Ekhart Yoga, Tracey Cook says:

Karma yoga is the path of action. It is the intention woven within our actions, which perpetuate more actions and the ongoing state of our minds (also known as karma). When we act, we often do so with the underlying question, “How will this benefit me,” expecting results or appreciation of our efforts.

Karma yoga suggests that we eliminate that attitude and act with an attitude of selfless service, without any anticipation of credit or result. In other words, we act simply for the delight and joy of being ABLE to act, with no attachment to a particular outcome and no sense of a “me” actually doing the action.

So this week, we'll work on taking action. All of the contributions to my classes this week will be donated to Arlington Cares. Arlington Cares is helping local families who are struggling to pay their rent at this difficult time. You can check out their website at https://www.arlingtoncaresnfp.org/about-us

Let’s shine our lights on the community and dedicate our energy during our practice to those who are struggling at this difficult time.

I hope to see you on the mat this week! If you can't join me on the mat this week, know I am sending you positive energy and calming breaths.

Love & Light,

Molly
