Fuel Your Passion
"What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" -Mary Oliver
Oprah says, "Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you!"
As we think about passion, often questions arise like, How do we live in our passion? How do we cultivate passion in our lives? Or even, how do we know what we're passionate about?
I had the opportunity on Thursday to visit a restaurant that called Tratoria Stefano in Sheboygan, WI. My husband and I travel once a year to Elkhart Lake Wisconsin for a retreat weekend with his company. A few years ago we discovered this amazing restaurant in Sheboygan which is about 20 minutes away. It has become one of our favorite meals. We were reflecting while we were there about the amount of passion you witness as a diner there. From the hostess, to the waiter, and certainly the owner and chef, you walk in and they all want to tell you about the specials that day and why you have to try them. The waiter was telling us how the chef seeks out fresh local food and uses her imagination to come up with the most innovative dishes. It’s such a fun experience to dine there and soak in the passion for food and pleasing the customer.
Last week, my intention was all about connection and community. And I kept noticing that when people live with passion, it brings about connection and community. So this week, I’m focusing my awareness and my classes on passion. Discovering your passion or living with passion isn’t always about doing things or adding something to our task list. When we live a life full of passion, it can also be about noticing the magic and beauty of the world around us. Just stopping and being present is a great way to live our one wild and precious life!
So this week, I challenge you to live with passion. To embrace the beauty all around you, to savor your morning coffee or tea for just a moment longer than usual, to find the passion in connecting with those around you. Here's to a week of finding the energy and passion in all of the small things that together make our one wild and precious life so amazing!
