Community and Connection
"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?" - Martin Luther King Jr.
This week's classes will focus on community and connection in honor of MLK. I often notice how after a great yoga class I feel much more connected both to myself and to those around me. We'll explore that this week on the mat through breath work, meditation, and poses.
Martin Luther King Jr.'s life embodied yoga in many ways. Here are a few ways:
*MLK was trusted by many because his actions were in harmony with his words. He lived what he preached.
*In yoga philosophy we talk about ahimsa, or non-violence. MLK was a true representation of ahimsa- changing his community through non-violent action.
*Another yoga observance, is called tapas. Tapas is about having the courage to change the things you can. It is a call to discipline and to putting in the work to take action toward our goals.
Today and throughout the week let us be inspired by Martin Luther King's life and actions. Let us be grateful for our communities and the connection we have to our true self when we live within our calling.
