Open Heart
"Yoga is not a work-out, it is a work-in. And this is the point of spiritual practice; to make us teachable; to open up our hearts and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.β -Rolf Gates
Loving kindness meditation, also known as Metta. asks us to send the following thoughts to ourselves and others in our lives.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live with ease.
As we pass people in our daily comings and goings this week, can we internally send them these thoughts? How much better of world would it be if we all took the time to realize that everyone has something they're going through. How would it change our daily interactions if we thought that everyone was coming to us with their best intentions? It is easy, and even natural, for us as humans to be critical or others or to let our ego take over and put ourselves first. This week I'm tasking myself with expanding on last week's practice of pausing between stimulus and response. I'm adding to that practice to pause and find the good. So to those whom I love, to myself, and to those I find difficult, I'll be sending these thoughts this week:
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live with ease.
